 Call to Order

Chair Dave Plyer called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Arthur Hanley spoke about an excessive amount of juvenile arrests.

Roll call was taken and a quorum was present at 7:12 p.m.

In the absence of a Secretary, meeting minutes were taken by Membership Registrar Cathy Corry.

Approval of Minutes

Reading of the March 29, 2007 meeting minutes was waived, without objection.  Meeting minutes were approved as submitted.

Report from the Chair

Chair Dave Plyer provided a brief review of the following topics:

Grant score sheets and grant award rankings were submitted to DJJ on March 30, 2007.

Correspondence from DJJ Deputy Secretary Rick Davison ensuring DJJ support of the Council.

Correspondence to the Pinellas County School Board in relation to school-related arrests.

Correspondence to DJJ Deputy Secretary Davison and Pinellas County Attorney Churuti about the dynamics between the Council and the Circuit 6 Juvenile Justice Board.

The Chair report was submitted for the record.

Chair announced next Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Seminole Community Library.

Council Member Announcements

Dennis Segall gave an update about a youth who has an upcoming hearing in Miami. He also shared that he wrote an article for People’s Tribune about ‘name changes’ scheduled to be published in May or June.
