Planning Committee Meeting – December 16, 2004

Minutes

Meeting attendees: Cathy Corry, John Feeney, Tammy Hillier-Flowers, Jeannie Lewis, David Plyer, Matt Sullivan, Todd Hoover, James Needs, Stephanie Prestwood, Michael Whalen and Jackie Griffin-Doherty.

Chair Jackie Griffin-Doherty called the Planning Committee meeting to order at 9:10 a.m. December 16, 2004 at the Election Service Center, 14255, 49^th Street North, Suite 202, Clearwater, FL.

The minutes of the November 10th meeting were approved. There were no objections noted.

Ø Committee members reviewed, pages 1-23, Dave Plyer’s recommended changes and the recommended changes proposed Michael Whalen and Cathy Corry. Committee members accepted these changes and will incorporate into the Strategic Plan.

Ø All changes in the document will be tracked in the document.

Ø The revised format proposed by Dave Plyer was approved by Committee members and will include Cover Page, Transmittal Letter and Table of Contents, Abbreviations and References.

Ø Committee members agreed that a transmittal letter should be developed to use when disseminating the Strategic Plan. John Feeney and Todd Hoover agreed to draft a copy of the transmittal letter and forward to Committee members.

Ø Tammy Hillier-Flowers agreed to work with Boys and Girls Club youths to design a logo for the Strategic Plan cover.

Ø All data sources and references will be numbered and properly cited on the Reference Page.

Ø The provisional recommendations from the Zero Tolerance Special Committee, which were disseminated by John Feeney to the full Council on December 15^th, were approved by Committee members and will be incorporated into the Strategic Plan.

Ø Stephanie Prestwood will provide better data regarding child protective custody cases and Tammy Hillier-Flowers will provide better Census data. This information will be incorporated in the Strategic Plan and cited accordingly.

Ø The Pinellas County Juvenile Justice Council will be provided a revised copy of the Strategic Plan, as amended based on these minutes. The Chair will disseminate to the full Council prior to the next meeting. Additionally, a printed copy of the Strategic Plan will be distributed to Council members at the next meeting, January 27, 2005 @ 9:00 a.m at the Pinellas Park Training Facility, 5851 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park. At this time the Council will vote on whether to approve the plan.

The next meeting of the Pinellas County Juvenile Justice Council Planning Committee has not been scheduled.
