Juvenile Justice Board & Council Chairs & Members

State of Florida

Dear Members:

In conjunction with the release of our 2005 – 2006 Delinquency Prevention Grant Request for Proposal, I would like to

re-establish the guidelines in which the grant review committees are to conduct the review of the approved grant applications.

There will be a mandatory grant reviewers training, via video teleconference (VTC), which will be held on February 18th 9:30 am EST.  Grant applications will be provided to the grant review committee at that time for review and scoring.  Recommendations from the Board or Council Chairpersons will be due to the Delinquency Prevention Specialist by April 18th, to ensure verification and posting to HQ by April 21st.

The 2005-2006 grant review process has changed; therefore, grant reviewers are required to attend the mandatory training.  If members of the grant review committee cannot attend the Grant VTC, please select other members to serve on the grant review committee.  Please contact your JJCRISP Specialist if you are having trouble establishing your committee.  The names of the members of the grant review committees are due to Ms. Marquita McGuire, Supervisor of Partnerships & Community Affairs, on or before January 24th.   Please include all contact information for each member of the grant review committee.

Please adhere to the following:

Delinquency prevention providers are prohibited from serving on grant review committees

All grant review members must read applications individually.  No contact should be made with the applicants during review of the application

All grant review members must score the grant applications individually and submit the completed score sheet to the chairperson of the grant review committee

Grant applicants cannot make presentations to the grant review committee

Grants can be discussed among the grant review committee members only after the grants have been individually scored

No individual scores or score sheets can be changed by any member of the grant review committee. Mathematical errors may be corrected by DJJ Delinquency Prevention staff

Scores are to be tallied and recommendations are to be submitted in writing to the Department of Juvenile Justice, Delinquency Prevention Specialist, by the board chair

Public notice is required prior to any Grant Review committee meeting.

Thank you for your commitment to serve your community and we appreciate your willingness to assist.  Please feel free to contact Ms. Kym Holcomb, Assistant Chief of Delinquency Prevention at (850) 488-3302, if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Roderick “Rod” Love
