FROM: Rod Love,
Office of Prevention & Victim Services
SUBJECT: 05-06 Delinquency Prevention Programming
According
to the Department of Juvenile Justice Office of Research & Planning,
research has shown that most juvenile crimes occur during the after-school
hours. While we are aware of the
research, we also know that this may not be the case in every community. Therefore, with regards to our current
Delinquency Prevention RFP and the issue of after-school programming, please be
advised of the following:
►
The
current RFP states that the department would like programs to focus on programming during the
after-school hours (anywhere from 2:00PM – 6:00PM). It is not
mandatory that program proposals operate their programs during those times,
►
Please
note that no extra points will be given for proposals targeting that time frame
and no points will be taken away for programs not targeting the aforementioned
hours,
►
All
grant review committees will be given specific directions not to weigh this
issue in either direction in scoring and reviewing the grants
Please
ensure that this information is communicated to the Boards & Councils in
addition to the Grant Review Committees.
Partnerships & Community Affairs Administrator, Marquita McGuire
will ensure that this issue is covered in the mandatory Grant Review Committee
video-teleconference that will be held February
18, 2005 @ 9:30am.
Thank you for
your assistance in this matter.
